Excellent Mixed Drinks
The list of mixed drinks availability is extensive. An excellent mixed drink should be made with care and preferably with a top shelf alcohol. Some excellent mixed drinks are White Russian, Bloody Mary, Mojito, Hot Buttered Rum, Margarita, Cosmopolitan Martini and a Long Island Iced Tea.
White Russian is a simple creamy drink. Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice and add 2 oz. vodka and 1 oz. coffee liquor. Add half cream to the top and serve.
Bloody Mary is an excellent morning or brunch drink. Shake 2 1/2 oz. vodka, 5 oz. tomato juice, 1/2 oz. lemon juice, 1/8 tsp. black pepper, 1/8 tsp. salt, 1/8 tsp. celery salt, 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce and 1 dash Tabasco sauce in a cocktail shaker. Pour the mixture into a highball glass filled with ice cubes and garnish with a celery stalk and a lime wedge.
Mojito is a delicious drink for a summer evening or a party. First, add 12 mint leaves to the bottom of a 16 oz. glass. Fill with crushed ice, 1 1/2 oz spiced rum, 1 tbsp sugar, and 1/2 oz. lime juice and muddle. Muddling is to combine ingredients in the bottom of the glass rather than stirring. Fill to the top with soda water and garnish with more mint leaves.
Hot Buttered Rum
Hot Buttered Rum is a perfect drink for a cold and wintry day. Combine 1 cup sugar, 1 cup brown sugar and 1 cup butter in a saucepan and cook over low, stirring occasionally, until the butter melts. Add the saucepan mixture to a bowl with 2 cups vanilla ice cream and mix until smooth. Keep the mix refrigerated for up to 2 weeks or frozen for a month. To make a serving, fill a mug with 1 oz. rum, 3/4 cup boiling water and then fill to the top with the mixture. Stir slightly and sprinkle with nutmeg.
Margarita is an excellent drink because there are many possible variations on a basic version. Run a lime wedge around the edge of a margarita glass and dip in salt. Fill the glass with ice. Shake 1 1/2 oz. tequila, 1/2 oz. triple sec and 1 oz. lime juice together and pour into the glass.
Any good girls night out has to include a Cosmopolitan Martini. Shake 1/2 oz. orange liqueur, 1 oz. vodka, juice of 1/2 a lime and 1 splash of cranberry juice together with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with an orange circle.
Long Island Iced Tea
A Long Island Iced Tea is a good mixed drink because it is strong and uses multiple top shelf liquors. Mix 1/4 oz. gin, 1/4 oz. vodka, 1/2 oz. spiced rum, 1/4 oz. tequila, 1/4 oz. triple sec and 1 oz. sours mix with ice in a Collins glass. Add cola to the top and garnish with a lemon wedge.
