Boys have it easier in life.
There are exactly zero girls on this planet who don’t regret not being a boy. There are so many times every single day where girls have an extra set of challenges to overcome as compared to boys. This article is not for sympathy, but rather to shine a light to you boys that you have a lot to be grateful for than you realize.
- Deadlines: a girl needs to be home by a certain time (say 8 PM) and she maintains that, she still gets nagged by family members for not being home even earlier. Whereas these rules don’t apply to boys. They leave the house and come back, even take their family members cars without so much as a ‘bye’, at any hour of the day.
- Marks: when the daughter scores 89% everyone loses their minds, but when the son scores 70% there’s a bloody celebration.
- Driving: this doesn't apply to all boys and girls, but a majority of boys are taught how to drive a car even before they qualify to get a license. Whereas most girls are told “you can learn to drive if your family after marriage allows”. When a woman finally learns, the whole world criticizes driving skills.
- Clothes: everyone should be allowed to wear what makes them feel confident and comfortable without judgment or threat to their safety.
- Jobs: everyone thinks girls can’t do many things and they need “help” from boys. Guess what? No! We are self-sufficient in all respects. If a girl ever asks for your help, you should feel honored instead of being condescending, that we think you are worthy enough to help us.
Jokes: guys make jokes about their sisters, wives, girlfriends, female friends and women in general and it’s supposed to be ok. Does it work the other way around?
Q: How many women does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Same as the number of men it takes to boil water.
- Media: across all media platforms women are being objectified as a pair of breasts and butt. Seriously? Movies, magazines, Instagram models, newspapers as well are riding on the trend. Young girls are idolizing models instead of role models. While at the same time, boys are busy playing Clash Royale and League of Legends.
You might be thinking I have listed 7 points and not one of them is about menstruation and the social stigma surrounding it. That’s because our lives are shitty without it as well.
And boys, don’t worry, you have your struggles too and I recognize it. In fact, there’s one coming up in your favor soon.
