She woke up with a purpose that morning, to find a new friend because the one friend that she had and loved was now gone. She pretended she was okay everyday but how could she be okay? How could she forget what happened and move on? Her heart felt like it could explode any moment. She sat on the bed and let herself go down the memory lane for one last time before she put all this behind her.
She clearly remembered making faces over the horrible carrot cake her mother used to bake. She remembered stealing the kitchen appliances and sneaking into her bedroom to play with them. Everything she had done till that disastrous morning had been with her. If there was Rose, there was Ruby. But that was all over now. She was trapped inside a cage that she herself had built.
Today felt better because she had closure which was missing all these days. She now knew why Ruby wasn't with her anymore and none of it had been her fault. She decided to take a step towards sanity the moment she found out Ruby didn't love her as much as she had loved Ruby. In fact, Ruby had hated her so much that she decided to kill her. Ruby at the age ten was smart enough to chalk up a perfect plan to get rid of her, but she just wasn't lucky enough that day.
What Rose failed to understand was why her mother would lie to her and let her lose all her friends and sanity. Hadn't she lost one of her girls to the asylum already? And why would her father be aboard to her mother's decision?
What else is expected after being told that the twin sister she had and loved had just been an imaginary friend she made up to cope up with her loneliness? Now she at least knew she was not crazy and all the people she met in her life are real and she had a chance at finding someone who loved her the way she loved them.
