Biggest Mistake Indian Muslim Rulers did in India:
From the start of 12th century to 1857, different Muslim Rulers ruled India for around six centuries by different methods. These methods consisted of very effective administration, creating powerful alliances by creating blood relations with local Rulers, supporting unimagined equality in India and same justice for each and every subject, maintaining strongest military in the world, creating a strong economy with different tax structures (some tax systems were unfair and unjust though, that said during end of 17th century, 24 percent of world GDP was from India), using absolute brute force when it's almost necessary.
So when everything seems so good, what made it possible that resulted in their disconnection from mass public. Almost most of these Muslim Rulers had origins from Turkish, Afgani and Persian ruling class historically. Most of them spoke persian language and supported the same language for official work in India. Gradually, Urdu became the speaking language for these people and most of the Muslims in India. Both these languages were not spoken or understood by most of the subjects in India. This is the main reason that Indian Muslim Rulers could never actually connect with Indian Masses (then again there are some exceptions) even if most of them were born in India with at least one Indian originated parent.
The irony here is they ruled for six centuries and yet they relied on their Sardars and Mansabdars to carry out the official Farman (order) and its translation to public. Most of those Sardars were corrupt, dominative in their behaviour, and unjust towards their subject which resulted in nothing but frequent rebellions from different areas. Those rebellions consisted of all the people from that particular location. Even the Islamic literature and Quran was made available in different languages in the last century, not when these Rulers were in power.
Considering todays situations, again same mistakes are done by Muslims. Their staunch support to Urdu and considering it somewhat their language has made sure the community gets alienated from mass public in any state. I believe that Muslims must start accepting the very language that's spoken by majority of the people in any state as their mothertongue. This will effectively increase collaboration and decrease misunderstandings. If this happens, all the dirty politics, that might be working against them, might get stopped and it can effectively block such disconnect that can happen anytime. This will result in better employment for them as well in different states, good problem solving ability, and active participation in Indian Politics. At the same time, it will help in tackling Islamphobia if it exists here, which I believe actually don't exist in India.
Again everyone can have different perception, and I have this one. 😊
