The curiosity of man set grounds for various discoveries and innovation and these discoveries and innovations sets the base for change in society, country and the world. When we look or peep in our past, we could easily discover the fact that there was a vast heritage before we were actually born on this earth and with every action that we do or commit today, we all are actually leaving behind us, a vast culture and heritage. What is noteworthy is that when we clearly examine our past by reading our histories and when we try to build links through the study of evolution in biology, we actually come to know that a lot has changed and is changing.
Our evolutionary history traces are origin from apes and monkeys, and instead of getting astonished at this fact we are readily accepting it because we are fully aware of the fact that change is inevitable law of nature.
Darwin's theory of "Natural Selection" states that those who failed to adapt according to the change or failed to transform, actually failed to survive in this world. Hence, in similar way those who can't move with time or change with the circumstances is sure to last at the station of failure.
Similarly, society also came to modern form by transforming the conventional society. Modern or present society is manifestation of traditional society which was flexible enough to accept or adapt to the changes. Many omens or evils prevalent in our past like sati system, pardah system are no more evident today and now even the voices are being raised for women empowerment and girl education or against other menaces like child marriage, dowry system, female foeticide etc which were frequent in our traditional societies. But to be more clear, this is the picture of only modern societies which are living in the metropolitan cities and are well aware. The picture is still tainted of pathetic in many rural areas which still are captured under their set prejudices and superstitions and hence, have failed to accept change in society. To quote Darwin again that those who fail to adapt to changes or mutations failed to survive; with such societies who are locked in their old conventional prejudices, the progress of the country is at stake and may fail to make up at the internationally set standards.
The main reason for these social menaces to be still present in our society albeit scientific development is due to our conventional outlook or approach. Government has been spending huge money in the cities which are already developed without focusing much at the rural area. We find best education institutes in cities and towns and not in rural areas. What actually rural means? Rural means something which is backward and which does not meet certain standards of urbanization Until and unless the number of rural areas do not decrease or progress in our country, we can't aim at attaining goals of development. Maximum of India's development is concentrated only in few big cities like Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi with few development strategies employed in small cities. This differential pattern of investment accounts for differences in the progress, while few industrialized cities in India contribute in raising per ca pita income and GDP of the country, the other least developed cities push the numbers to negative.
Hence, these differentiated developmental strategies favor the rural people to stand unflinchingly against change and because they have no access to the new approaches. They remain contended with their traditional methods.
Therefore, if we really need to progress we need to accept and welcome change and this acceptance should not only achieved by few but actually by the entire society.
