Up cycling stuff makes me feel really good. Before throwing anything into the waste bin, I always have a thought if it can be reused in any way. Here I am going to share how I reused a diaper box and an old T-shirt of my husband to make a beautiful storage box and that too in just a few minutes. Moreover, for making this storage box you don’t need to have any crafty talent and no sewing is required. Believe me, it is that simple to make and really useful for organizing your stuff.
Things needed for this project
- A cardboard box
- A T-shirt (choose T-shirt, according to the box size, if it is a large box, take a large size T-shirt)
- A Safety Pin
- Glue (not necessarily required)
Let’s get started
- The first step is to cut the lid of the box carefully using scissors or sharp knife.
- Then put the T-shirt on the cardboard box with the neck of the T-shirt on the bottom side of the box. Pull the T-shirt from all the sides. This way the neck and sleeves will stay at the bottom and you will get neat and smooth fabric covered four sides of the box.
- If there is any design on the T-shirt, you can adjust it in such a way that the design is displayed beautifully on the side of the box. If there are stripes on the T-shirt make sure they are aligned on all the four sides, this will give a very good look to the storage box.
- Turn the box bottom-up. Tuck the sleeves in and secure them with a safety pin. You can also use glue here to secure any excess fabric. I didn’t use the glue in this DIY as the T-shirt perfectly fitted the box with the colorful design covering one whole side of the box.
I am using this box to store my kid’s toys. As this box looked so good in the room, I made two more storage boxes, one of the same sizes and another one is a smaller version using my kid’s T-shirt.
